Keko Chronicles - The Golden Temple

Keko Chronicles

Barley Doo returns from Iplisteen, having been sent there by Lord Quiggs to recruit the Katts of Iplisteen into the war effort. Unable to get back to Galuria by the normal route due to General Fydo’s Blockade, Barley Doo chooses to pass through the treacherous footing of a whoopsy daisy meadow into the hills.

There, Barley Doo stumbles upon a temple of solid gold. While Barley Doo is determined to get back to Galuria as quickly as possible, he notices the ancient sigil of his people on the temple door. Believing he is the last of the Barley Doos and having very little connection to his past and history, Barley chooses to enter the temple.

Keko Chronicles

Within, Barley Doo battles silent golden warriors and numerous booby traps, going deeper and deeper into the temple, all the while, noticing the numerous sigils of the Barley Doos etched into the walls, pillars, floors, and ceilings of the golden temple.

Eventually Barley Doo makes his way into a huge room which he assumes to be the center of the temple. There, he discovers High Priestess Vennabyll and her golden krystal which pulsates with an energy that Barley Doo does not recognize.

Keko Chronicles

Despite his amazing fighting skills, Barley Doo is overwhelmed by a countless number of silent temple guardians who seem to not feel pain and cannot be stopped. The High Priestess orders her guardians to strap him down on a slate beside a pool of shimmering gold towards the back of the large chamber.

High Priestess Vennabyll explains to Barley Doo that all of her guardians were once like him before they were lowered into the golden pool and transformed into the relentless, mindless individuals that Barley Doo has been fighting since entering the temple. As she readies to lower Barley Doo into the pool, she removes his helmet exposing his face.

The High Priestess is shocked that the temple intruder is a Barley Doo.

She smiles.

“You are Barley Doo?” she says.

“I am,” Barley Doo responds. “I am the last of the Barley Doo.”

High Priestess Vennabyll laughs at the declaration.

“The last? You poor thing! You think you are the last?” she says.

The High Priestess then announces that Barley Doo is free to go, explaining that she owes his people a great debt. Barley Doo tries to get more information, but the priestess is not forthcoming and demands that he leave before she changes her mind.

Barley Doo exits the temple which then flashes with a great golden light. Slightly blinded by the event, Barley Doo covers his eyes. When his sight readjusts, he is amazed to discover that the golden temple has disappeared.

Pondering all that he has learned, Barley Doo continues through the hills into Galuria...
